Exciting news from Elon Musk’s company, xAI! They have just unveiled Grok-3, their most advanced AI model to date. Early tests indicate that Grok-3 may outperform top competitors like OpenAI and DeepSeek in critical areas such as math, science, and coding.
During a live demonstration on X, Musk stated, “We’re really thrilled to introduce Grok 3, which we believe is an order of magnitude more capable than Grok 2, and we achieved this in a remarkably short time.”
New Features and Capabilities
Alongside Grok-3, xAI has launched “Deep Search,” a next-generation search engine. Developed in a state-of-the-art data center in Memphis, Grok-3 has been trained with an astounding “10x” more computing power and a richer dataset that includes legal documents.
Performance and Model Family
Musk describes Grok-3 as a “maximally truth-seeking AI,” emphasizing its commitment to accuracy, even if it challenges conventional beliefs. This model family includes Grok-3 mini, focusing on speed. Though the rollout began recently, not all features are fully available yet, with some still in beta testing.
Reasoning and Specialized Models
The Grok-3 suite incorporates specialized reasoning models designed to solve complex problems with enhanced accuracy. These models even fact-check their outputs, ensuring reliability. Musk has taken measures to keep some internal thought processes hidden, preventing other AIs from directly mimicking Grok-3’s innovative approaches.
Integration and Future Plans
The reasoning capabilities support the new DeepSearch feature, which assists users in research by scanning the internet and X. A “voice mode” will soon be available for more interactive communication. Enterprise users can expect to access Grok-3 and DeepSearch via xAI’s API shortly after.
Availability and Pricing
Starting Tuesday, Grok-3 will be available to premium X subscribers in the U.S. A separate subscription will also be offered for web and app access. X’s Premium+ tier subscribers ($50/month) will be the first to try it out.
A new subscription plan, SuperGrok, is expected to cost $30 per month or $300 annually, providing access to advanced features like unlimited image generation.
