Rohit Sharma’s Injury Update from Melbourne Nets
MELBOURNE: Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma faced a minor setback during the team’s training session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. While batting against throwdown specialist Daya, he was struck on his left knee. Although Rohit continued to practice for a short time, he eventually sought attention from the team physiotherapist.
The Indian captain was seen removing his gear and settling into a chair while the physio applied an ice pack to his knee. There was visible discomfort on Rohit’s face, but the physio later positioned his leg comfortably on a chair to alleviate any potential swelling.
Injury Not Serious
Team bowler Akash Deep confirmed in a press conference that the injury was not serious. “Such blows are common when you play cricket. I think this wicket was for white ball which is why the ball was staying low,” he stated. The Indian team remains hopeful that Rohit’s pain will subside before the much-anticipated Boxing Day Test match.
Intense Training Session
The training session saw the entire Indian team present, with Jasprit Bumrah showcasing exceptional skill, troubling batters with sharp angles. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep also impressed during their lengthy spells with the new ball. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli opted to practice against side-armers and spinners like Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja.
The players engaged in a thorough two-hour session before taking a well-deserved rest day on Monday. The fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy begins on December 26, with the series currently level at 1-1.
