UDAIPUR: The 2nd All India State Water Ministers’ Conference convened on Tuesday, bringing together Union Minister CR Patil, Chief Ministers from Rajasthan, Tripura, and Odisha, along with other key officials. This gathering aims to address critical issues surrounding water management across the country.
Praising PM Modi’s Vision
During the conference, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma commended Prime Minister Modi’s vision for “Viksit Bharat 2047,” a developmental roadmap leading up to India’s centennial year of independence. He stated, “Jal Aatmanirbharta is crucial for realizing our dream of a developed India by 2047.” This emphasis on self-sufficiency in water management underscores the importance of collaborative efforts among states.
Tripura’s Efforts in Water Resource Management
Tripura CM Manik Saha highlighted the state’s initiatives to enhance agricultural productivity through improved irrigation projects. He noted, “With over 70% of Tripura being hilly and forested, rainwater storage structures and minor irrigation dams are essential for our farmers.” This focus not only supports agricultural growth but also aims to double farmers’ incomes.

The conference saw participation from 30 State Water Ministers, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, and various Deputy Chief Ministers, discussing six pivotal themes:
