BHOPAL: A devastating incident unfolded in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday afternoon when a 70-foot-high 400KV electricity transmission tower collapsed, claiming the lives of three individuals and leaving eight others critically injured. The victims, all hailing from West Bengal, were engaged in the replacement of old transmission towers, a contract awarded to a firm from Bengal.
Details of the Incident
The unfortunate event occurred around 12:30 PM in Aamdad village, located in the Rampur Naikin panchayat, approximately 600 km from Bhopal. Eyewitnesses reported that the tower suddenly came crashing down, prompting a swift response from fellow workers and local residents who rushed to rescue those trapped beneath the twisted metal.
Emergency services promptly transported the victims to the hospital. Tragically, two individuals succumbed to their injuries en route to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa, situated 50 km from the accident site. A third victim was pronounced dead upon arrival.
