Three Minor Girls in Maharashtra Stage Kidnapping to Meet BTS in South Korea

The girls—one aged 11 and two aged 13—are from Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district. They had planned to travel to Pune to earn the money needed for a trip to South Korea to meet their favourite K-pop band members.

A shocking incident has emerged from Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district, where three minor girls allegedly staged their own kidnapping in a bid to raise money for a trip to South Korea to meet the globally popular K-pop band BTS.

The girls—one aged 11 and two aged 13—had plans to travel to Pune to earn money for their dream journey. Their obsession with BTS led them to devise this extraordinary plan, hoping to garner attention and support for their travel aspirations.

On December 27, the Dharashiv police received a call reporting that three girls had been forcibly taken away in a school van from Omerga taluka. The call initially raised alarms, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Upon investigation, police traced the call to a woman travelling on a state transport bus from Omerga to Pune. This led to a search that revealed the girls onboard the bus, where they were escorted off with the help of a passenger and local police.

During questioning, the girls revealed their intentions to work in Pune to earn money for their trip to South Korea. Their innocent yet misguided plan raises questions about the influence of pop culture on young minds and the lengths they will go to achieve their dreams.

Understanding the Influence of K-Pop Culture

The allure of K-pop, especially bands like BTS, has captivated millions globally, including young fans in India. While it inspires creativity and passion, it also poses challenges, as seen in this incident. It’s crucial for parents and guardians to engage in open conversations with children about their aspirations and the realities of achieving them.
