Remembering a Cricketing Legend
Padmakar Shivalkar is celebrated as one of the finest spinners never to represent India at the international level. Throughout his illustrious career, spanning from the 1961-62 season to 1987-88, he played 124 First-Class matches, taking an impressive 589 wickets at an average of 19.69. His remarkable achievements include 361 wickets in the Ranji Trophy, where he was a formidable presence, securing eleven 10-wicket hauls.
In recognition of his contributions to Indian cricket, Shivalkar was honored with the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2017.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) expressed profound sorrow over Shivalkar’s passing. MCA president Ajinkya Naik stated, “Mumbai cricket has lost a true legend today. His dedication, skill, and impact on Mumbai cricket are unparalleled.” The BCCI echoed these sentiments, mourning his loss and recognizing his unparalleled commitment to the game.
