JAMMU:
Old Cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to Open for Pilgrims
The old cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, nestled in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district in Jammu & Kashmir, will be opened for pilgrims on Makar Sankranti, which falls on January 14 (Tuesday) this year. This annual event is highly anticipated by devotees seeking darshan of the pindies after religious rituals.
Timings and Accessibility
Officials have stated that the timing for the opening of the old cave will depend on the rush of devotees. Historically, the cave has been accessible for nearly 12 hours a day, operating from 10 AM to 4 PM and again from 10:30 PM to 5 AM. However, due to its narrow dimensions, the entrance is closed for a significant part of the year.
New Developments for Pilgrims
To accommodate a larger number of visitors, the Shrine Board has carved out two new caves for both entry and exit, ensuring a smoother experience for all pilgrims. This thoughtful addition allows more devotees to partake in the spiritual journey to one of India’s most revered shrines.
