As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 approaches, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson opens up about his cherished bond with former Indian captain MS Dhoni. In a recent conversation, he expressed his admiration for Dhoni and enthusiasm for RR’s promising young talent, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

A Dream Come True

Sanju Samson, like many aspiring cricketers in India, has always looked up to MS Dhoni. “I always wanted to be around MS Dhoni,” he shared. “Every time we played against CSK, I wanted to sit and talk to him about his approach to the game.” Reflecting on a memorable match against CSK in Sharjah, where he scored around 70-80 runs and earned the Man of the Match award, Samson recalls how that moment solidified their bond. “Since then, I’ve been fortunate to meet him often. It feels like I’m living my dream,” he added.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The Young Prodigy

While discussing his experiences with Dhoni, Samson also praised the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made headlines as the youngest signing in IPL history, acquired by RR for Rs 1.1 crore. Vaibhav has already made significant strides, debuting for Bihar at just 12 years old and showcasing his extraordinary power-hitting skills.

Samson noted, “Vaibhav looks very confident; he was hitting sixes out of the ground at the academy. What else can you ask for?” The young talent has also impressed on the international stage, scoring a century against Australia in the U19 format. Samson believes that nurturing Suryavanshi’s natural talent in a supportive environment is key to his development. “You never know—he might end up playing for India in a couple of years,” he remarked.

Samson emphasized the importance of creating a positive atmosphere within the RR dressing room. “We ensure a relaxed environment and back our players,” he said. “I feel he is ready for the IPL, and we are excited to see what the future holds for Vaibhav.”
