Sairaj Bahutule Resigns as Bowling Coach at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence

MUMBAI: Former Indian cricketer and renowned leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule has officially stepped down from his role as the bowling coach at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. His resignation, effective immediately, is attributed to personal reasons.
Bahutule, who took on the coaching position in November 2021, has made notable contributions during his tenure. He worked closely with various national teams, including India, India A, and the India Under-19 squad, participating in at least 20 series and tours. His expertise was instrumental in shaping the skills of many top spinners in the country.
In a statement, Bahutule expressed his gratitude towards former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman for the opportunity to work with India’s elite players. “I thoroughly enjoyed my three-year tenure at the NCA/COE, and my services as a bowling coach will forever be available for the BCCI,” he stated.
Bahutule played a pivotal role in several key international events, including the T20I series tour of South Africa and two Under-19 World Cups. His experience as a head coach for the India Emerging side in the Asia Emerging Cup and as a bowling consultant during the Border-Gavaskar series further showcases his commitment to developing young talent in Indian cricket.
As a player, Bahutule represented India in two Tests and eight ODIs between 1997 and 2003, amassing five wickets. He also enjoyed a successful first-class career, taking 630 wickets and scoring over 6,000 runs in 188 matches.
