Privacy Breach in Rajkot: Disturbing CCTV Footage Shared Online
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about women’s privacy, CCTV footage from a private hospital in Rajkot has been circulated on social media, showing women undergoing gynecological examinations and treatments. The Ahmedabad cybercrime branch has launched an investigation following the widespread sharing of these videos.
The offensive footage, traced back to a hospital’s outpatient department (OPD), was uploaded to a YouTube channel named ‘Megha MBBS’ and has been shared across various Telegram channels. The videos have reportedly accumulated over five lakh views in just a month, with some clips depicting vulnerable moments, including a woman receiving an injection.
Legal Action Underway
Rajkot’s Deputy Commissioner of Crime, Dr. Parthrajsinh Gohil, confirmed a police team is investigating the incident. The circulating videos were initially shared on Telegram in September 2024 and later appeared on YouTube in January 2025. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hardik Makadia, stated that this breach constitutes a severe violation of privacy, with a case filed under sections 66E and 67 of the Information Technology Act.
Efforts are being made to identify the culprits and remove the videos from all platforms to protect the victims’ identities. State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel emphasized the need for strict adherence to privacy protocols in health facilities.
