While addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting micro and small enterprises through the Mudra scheme, which has been in operation since 2015. “We have disbursed Rs 32 lakh crore as loans to poor citizens under the Mudra scheme. Those who abuse us, those with zero seats, may not even be able to count the zeros in Rs 32 lakh crore,” he remarked, emphasizing the significant impact of the scheme on India’s small business landscape.
Income Tax Exemption and Food Security Initiatives
In addition to his remarks on the Mudra scheme, PM Modi reiterated the Centre’s proposal for an income tax exemption of up to Rs 12 lakh in the Union Budget 2025-26, highlighting it as a major relief for salaried individuals and small business owners.
On the topic of food security, PM Modi praised the Surat Food Security Campaign as a model for other districts, focusing on better nutrition and combatting malnutrition and anemia. He also pointed out the government’s efforts to streamline the Public Distribution System by eliminating five crore bogus ration cards, ensuring that food subsidies reach those truly in need.
