New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) – As per the latest official data, India boasts over 29,500 registered drones, with the national capital leading the charge at 4,882. This growth signifies a burgeoning interest in drone technology across various sectors.
State-wise Breakdown of Registered Drones
Following Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra come in second and third, boasting 4,588 and 4,132 registered drones, respectively. Other notable states include:

Regulatory Developments and Certification
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued 96 Type Certificates for various Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), with 65 of these models specifically designed for agricultural applications. Each registered drone receives a Unique Identification Number (UIN) through the Digital Sky Platform, which is efficiently managed by the DGCA.
Training and Certification for Drone Pilots
