NIA Charges Two BKI Operatives in VHP Leader’s Murder Case

Chargesheet Filed Against Khalistani Operatives in VHP Leader Murder Case

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against two operatives of the banned Khalistani outfit, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), in connection with the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga. The incident occurred in Punjab’s Roopnagar district on April 13, 2024.

Details of the Case

Dharminder Kumar, alias Kunal, and the Dubai-based absconding accused Harwinder Kumar, alias Sonu, have been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Arms Act. Vikas Bagga was shot dead by BKI terrorists while he was working at his confectionery shop, indicating a planned conspiracy aimed at targeted killings.

Conspiracy Unveiled

The NIA’s investigation has revealed that the conspiracy was orchestrated by Pakistan-based BKI chief Wadhawa Singh Babbar, and involved key members located in Germany, including Harjit Singh, alias Laddi, and Kulbeer Singh, alias Sidhu. These individuals facilitated the logistics, funding, and arms procurement necessary for the execution of the crime.

Role of Accused in the Crime

Investigations indicate that Harwinder Kumar, a native of Nawanshahr, Punjab, played a pivotal role in transferring funds into India and acquiring weapons. He, along with Laddi and Sidhu, funded Dharminder Kumar for procuring the weapons used in the murder.

The NIA had previously filed charges against other associates, including arrested shooters Mandeep Kumar and Surinder Kumar, as part of the ongoing investigation.
