NIA Achieves 100% Conviction Rate in 2024
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made headlines by securing a remarkable 100% conviction rate in 2024. A total of 68 accused were convicted in 25 cases decided by Special NIA courts across the country, showcasing the agency’s efficiency in handling critical cases.
Key Highlights of NIA’s Performance
In 2024, the NIA registered 80 cases, leading to the arrest of 210 individuals involved in various serious crimes, including left-wing extremism, North-East insurgency, Khalistani terrorism, and the gangster-terrorist-smuggler nexus. The agency conducted an impressive 662 raids and searches nationwide.
Focus Areas and Arrests
The year saw a significant focus on left-wing extremism and North-East insurgency, with 28 and 18 cases registered respectively. Notably, 69 of the 210 arrests were related to left-wing extremism. The NIA also made strides against the growing terrorist-gangster nexus, arresting 14 individuals connected to foreign-based Khalistani terrorist activities.

The NIA’s quick action was evident in the rapid chargesheeting of key suspects involved in high-profile cases, including the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar and a shooting incident in Chandigarh.
