New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon Arrives in Delhi
NEW DELHI: New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon made his official arrival in India on Sunday, welcomed at the airport by SP Singh Baghel, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.
Raisina Dialogue Participation
Luxon is set to be the chief guest and keynote speaker at the prestigious Raisina Dialogue, scheduled from March 17 to 19. This event focuses on pivotal global issues, and the theme for the 2025 edition is “Kalachakra – People, Peace and Planet.” The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, extended a warm welcome to PM Luxon on social media.
Official Meetings Scheduled
On the first day of his visit, Luxon is slated to meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The following day, he will pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat before engaging in discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. They will also exchange Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during their meeting.
Meeting President Droupadi Murmu
Later, Luxon will have a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, further strengthening the ties between the two nations. This visit marks Luxon’s first trip to India as Prime Minister, accompanied by one of the largest delegations ever brought by a New Zealand leader.
Upcoming Itinerary
Following his engagements in Delhi, Luxon will visit Mumbai on March 19-20 before returning to Wellington. This visit is expected to enhance bilateral relations and collaboration between India and New Zealand.
