Mumbai Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals

In a significant development, the Mumbai police have accelerated their efforts to identify, arrest, and deport illegal Bangladeshi nationals following a recent incident involving the attack on a local resident, Saif. The police’s proactive measures gained momentum after the arrest of Shariful Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, on January 19. Shariful, 30, had reportedly entered India illegally and was working in Mumbai.

Recent Arrests and Operations

Since Shariful’s arrest, the police have apprehended around 20 illegal Bangladeshi nationals, contributing to a total of 138 arrests in just the past 20 days. Many of these individuals were found in possession of fake documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, as well as driving licenses. To bolster their operations, crack teams have been deployed across 93 police stations, with special branches instructed to conduct raids in slums, restaurants, hotels, and bars.

Community Impact and Awareness

The crackdown not only aims to tackle illegal immigration but also seeks to foster a safer environment for Mumbai residents. As the city continues to grow and evolve, residents are encouraged to stay informed about local developments and assist law enforcement in their efforts.
