Mohammed Siraj Welcomes BCCI’s Saliva Ban Lift Ahead of IPL 2025
In an exciting development for bowlers, Mohammed Siraj has expressed his satisfaction with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to lift the saliva ban ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Siraj believes this change will significantly enhance bowlers’ ability to achieve reverse swing, especially in less favorable conditions.
“It’s very good for bowlers. It’s excellent news for us because applying saliva on the ball increases the chances of finding some reverse swing,” Siraj stated. He emphasized that while scrubbing the ball on the shirt may not yield results, using saliva helps maintain the shine on one side, which is essential for generating reverse swing.
New Beginnings with Gujarat Titans
Joining the Gujarat Titans for the upcoming season, Siraj is eager to play under the leadership of Shubman Gill, whom he describes as a “bowler’s captain.” He noted, “Gill never tries to stop you from trying something new. We share a strong personal rapport and have made our Test debut together.”
The Titans feature a formidable bowling lineup, including Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan, which Siraj views as beneficial for fostering healthy competition and easing individual pressure. “It’s a blessing to have such experienced bowlers in a competition like IPL,” he mentioned.

Despite being sidelined from recent international assignments, Siraj remains focused on his IPL performance rather than national selection. “I want to focus on my performance and help Gujarat Titans win another IPL title,” he remarked.
