Mohammed Shami’s Unique Fitness Regime: One Meal a Day
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, at 34, is setting new standards for fitness and discipline in cricket. The pace spearhead has adopted a remarkable approach to his diet, consuming just one meal a day. This unique regimen has played a significant role in maintaining his peak performance on the field.
Discipline in Diet
Shami revealed that since 2015, he has exclusively focused on having dinner, completely skipping breakfast and lunch. “It is very difficult to do such a thing, but once you get used to it, then it becomes very easy,” he shared during a recent interview. His disciplined dietary choices have undoubtedly contributed to his success, especially in critical matches like the Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh, where he claimed five wickets, becoming the fastest Indian to reach 200 ODI wickets.
Overcoming Challenges
Shami’s journey back to cricket hasn’t been easy. After a 14-month hiatus due to an ankle injury sustained during the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, he faced numerous challenges, including post-surgery complications. During his rehabilitation, he notably lost nine kgs, overcoming significant weight gain. “When I was at the NCA, it was a very difficult phase,” he recalled. His commitment to fitness is evident, as he avoids sweets and other indulgent foods.
Occasional Indulgences
While Shami maintains a strict diet, he allows himself the occasional treat. “As far as the biryani is concerned, sometimes it’s okay,” he humorously remarked, showcasing a balanced approach to his health.
As Shami prepares for the highly anticipated Champions Trophy match against Pakistan, his fitness and form will be crucial for India’s success. For great deals on sports gear and fitness products, visit Looffers.com today!
