Maoist Violence Resurfaces in Jharkhand and Maharashtra
Chatra/Nagpur: In a shocking turn of events, Maoists have reportedly killed two villagers on suspicion of being police informers. The incidents took place in Jharkhand’s Chatra district and Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli, marking a disturbing resurgence of violence in these regions.
Tragic Events in Gadchiroli
The first incident occurred in Gadchiroli, where Sukhram Madavi, a former panchayat samiti chairman, was killed in Kiyer village. Just 48 hours after a police station was opened in Nelgunda, Maoists left a pamphlet near Madavi’s body accusing him of aiding security forces in establishing permanent posts for mining activities. This reflects the ongoing resistance by Maoists against economic development in areas where they previously held significant influence.
Brutal Murder in Chatra
In Chatra, the situation escalated further as four to five Maoists brutally murdered Vishnu Saw from Lembuwa village after abducting him while he was grazing cattle. His body was discovered along the Tandwa-Balumath border, raising concerns about the Maoists’ renewed presence in the area. Local authorities are conducting raids to apprehend those responsible, as fear grips the community.
The resurgence of Maoist violence underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement and the ongoing conflict in these regions. As the situation develops, residents remain on high alert, hoping for peace and stability.
