Cross-Border Infiltration: NIA Conducts Raids Across Jammu

JAMMU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its efforts against terrorism by launching a series of searches in Jammu. On Wednesday, NIA officials conducted raids at 12 locations linked to hybrid terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers accused of facilitating cross-border infiltration in the Jammu region.

Details of the Operations

The targeted areas included Bhatindi, Janipur, Malik Market, and Safa Valley. This operation comes after the NIA registered a case on October 24, 2024, following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The case is based on intelligence regarding active terrorists from banned outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad entering India through the Indo-Pak border.

According to an official statement, “The infiltrations were allegedly facilitated by OGWs and other terror associates based in the hinterland of Jammu, providing logistical support, food, shelter, and financial assistance to the terrorists.”

Previous Operations and Findings

Earlier this month, NIA conducted similar operations in five districts (Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar), uncovering incriminating materials that established links between banned terror outfits and local terror networks. The investigations revealed connections with newly formed offshoots of these groups.

In April 2024, a massive crackdown targeted OGWs and hybrid terrorists associated with various Pakistan-backed organisations, resulting in significant seizures of digital devices containing incriminating data.
