Maharashtra Government to Fast-Track SIT Probe into Disha Salian’s Death
MUMBAI: In a significant development, the Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, announced in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into Disha Salian’s death will be expedited. Kadam emphasized, “No one will be spared,” reflecting the urgency and seriousness of the ongoing investigation.
This announcement comes amidst mounting pressure from opposition parties, particularly the BJP and Shiv Sena, who have demanded a thorough probe into the case. The assembly session faced interruptions as MLAs questioned the timeline for the SIT’s investigation, which was formed back in December 2022.
Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, tragically passed away on June 8, 2020. Recently, her father, Satish, has taken steps to file a petition in the Bombay High Court for a fresh investigation into her death, including a demand for the “custodial interrogation” of Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray.
Kadam reassured the assembly that the SIT’s investigation is ongoing, and the report has yet to be finalized. He stated, “Once we receive directions from the High Court, we will take stern and appropriate action. The law is the same for all; we will not spare anyone.”
The matter has sparked heated debates in the legislative council, with the opposition accusing the government of attempting to suppress the investigation. BJP MLA Ameet Satam raised concerns about the lack of progress, stating, “Even after two years, the SIT has not concluded its findings.”
