Maharashtra Government Establishes Media Monitoring Cell
MUMBAI: The Maharashtra state government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore to establish a media monitoring cell aimed at enhancing the oversight of news across various platforms. As proposed by the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), this initiative will facilitate the appointment of an agency responsible for comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and reporting news across print, electronic, social, and digital media.
Key Objectives of the Media Monitoring Cell
The newly formed media monitoring center will provide information through dashboards and mobile applications. Initially, the agency will operate for one year, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on performance. The cell’s primary objective is to track both positive and negative information related to government activities, ensuring timely identification of misleading content.
In its first phase, the monitoring will encompass traditional media as well as emerging online platforms. The contracted agency will categorize and present news clippings in a structured PDF format, allowing for easy access to vital information. This will include hourly alerts on trends and sentiments across various media channels.
Operational Hours and Reporting Structure
The monitoring cell will function from 8 AM to 10 PM, analyzing content and generating reports categorized by subject, district, and more. These reports will be available daily, weekly, and monthly, with on-demand options as well. The system aims to counteract misinformation that can disrupt public peace, ensuring a streamlined response to false narratives.
