Lokayukta Clears Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Wife in Muda Land Swap Case

Muda Case: Clean Chit for Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

MYSURU: The Lokayukta Police have given a clean chit to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, and two others in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land-swap case. The charges brought forth by petitioner Snehamayi Krishna were deemed unsubstantiated.
Despite this reprieve, Siddaramaiah is not entirely out of danger, as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating laundering charges involving his wife, who allegedly benefitted from the preferential allotment of 14 plots in Mysuru in exchange for land on the city outskirts.

Petitioner Responds to Clean Chit

Lokayukta’s inquiry report is set to be submitted to the special MP/MLAs’ court in Bengaluru, with a hearing scheduled for February 24. Mysuru Lokayukta SP TJ Udesha remarked that the investigation yielded no evidence implicating the CM and others involved. However, petitioner Krishna has dismissed the probe as a “pre-planned drama,” stating that the Lokayukta failed to verify any findings with him. He plans to file objections against the report.

Details of the Allegations

The FIR, filed under various acts including the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, highlights that Parvathi received 14 prime plots in Mysuru’s Vijayanagar under a 50:50 MUDA scheme. Following the case, she returned the plots to MUDA. The FIR accused Siddaramaiah of conspiring to obtain ownership of these sites in his wife’s name in exchange for land at Kesare.
After a meticulous 138-day investigation, a nearly 1,000-page report detailing statements from over 100 officials was compiled. The Lokayukta Police noted that further investigations into MUDA’s compensatory plot allocations from 2016 to 2024 are still ongoing.
