Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury Puts India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Hopes in Jeopardy

Jasprit Bumrah’s Uncertain Participation in ICC Champions Trophy 2025: A Cause for Concern

DUBAI: India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is currently uncertain due to a swelling in his back. As the cricketing world eagerly anticipates the tournament commencing on February 19, the Indian team faces mounting pressure, particularly with crucial matches against formidable opponents like Pakistan and New Zealand.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has weighed in on Bumrah’s potential absence, suggesting it could significantly weaken India’s bowling attack. “It will be a huge loss to India if Bumrah isn’t there. He has been a top bowler for India, leading the pack from the front. Without him, the Indian bowling attack is reduced to 40-50 percent of its strength,” Amir stated during a media interaction.

India is placed in Group A, alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand. The team will kick off its campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, followed by matches against Pakistan and New Zealand on February 23 and March 2, respectively.

Bumrah’s recent performances have been stellar, with 443 international wickets in 204 matches across formats. Notably, he was the highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claiming 32 wickets in five matches. However, the question remains: did his heavy workload contribute to his current injury? With India’s ODI squad yet to be announced, Bumrah’s fitness remains a key concern for the team’s prospects in the tournament.
