Jasprit Bumrah Out of 2025 ICC Champions Trophy; Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy Replace Him

Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025

In a significant blow to Team India, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. This news was confirmed by the Indian cricket board on Monday, sending ripples of concern through the cricketing community. Young pacer Harshit Rana has been named as Bumrah’s replacement in the squad.

Bumrah’s absence creates a considerable gap in India’s pace attack, as he has been a pillar of strength in the team’s bowling lineup. However, the selection committee has shown faith in Harshit Rana, who has delivered impressive performances in both domestic cricket and the IPL.

Squad Adjustments and New Additions

In another strategic change, spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has been included in the squad, taking the place of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal, who was initially part of the provisional squad, will now serve as a non-travelling reserve alongside Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube. These players will remain on standby and are poised to travel to Dubai if the situation demands.

The squad still showcases a strong blend of experience and youth, with Rohit Sharma leading the team. Despite Bumrah’s injury posing a setback, India will be eager for their new inclusions to step up as they aim for ICC glory.

India’s Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
