Indian Railways is set to unveil an updated timetable, effective January 1, 2025, featuring a plethora of new services, including the launch of 136 Vande Bharat Express trains. The current timetable, known as the 44th edition of ‘Trains at a Glance,’ will remain active until December 31, 2024.
Highlights of the Upcoming Timetable
In 2025, Indian Railways aims to enhance passenger travel with the introduction of 136 Vande Bharat Express trains, 2 Amrit Bharat Express trains, and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Vande Metro). This initiative follows last year’s successful rollout of 64 Vande Bharat trains and an additional 70 services aimed at improving passenger comfort and efficiency.
Changes in Release Schedule
Traditionally, the Ministry of Railways releases the ‘Trains At A Glance’ (TAG) timetable before June 30 each year, with implementation beginning on July 1. However, this year marks a shift in the norms, showcasing the Railways’ adaptability to the changing needs of its passengers.
Maha Kumbh Mela Preparations
Additionally, preparations are underway for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, where Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is ensuring world-class amenities for the millions of devotees expected. With plans for over 1 lakh passenger shelters and approximately 3,000 special fair trains, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience. Moreover, the luxurious Mahakumbh Gram tent city has been constructed to offer premium accommodations, with online bookings available from January 10 to February 28 through the IRCTC website.
