The third season of the ILT20 kicked off with a bang, showcasing a thrilling blend of international cricket superstars and emerging UAE talent. Renowned Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis, a key figure in the commentary team since the tournament’s inception, expressed his admiration for the league’s rapid growth and the excitement surrounding the opening weekend.

Farhan Khan, playing for Dubai Capitals, also caught Waqar’s eye with his impressive performance in the season opener, particularly for defending 11 runs in the last over against MI Emirates’ Kieron Pollard. “Farhan delivered a magnificent final over to someone who’s been a master of T20 cricket. It shows the kids are getting used to playing with the big boys and have no fear,” he praised.
Improved Pitch Conditions
Waqar also highlighted the enhanced pitch conditions this season, which have added balance to the contests between bat and ball. “The pitch quality has stood out – there was a noticeable difference in the first few matches. In the past, the pitches have been quite flat, but from what I’ve seen so far there’s something in it for the bowlers as well,” he added.
