Himachal Pradesh Class 12 English Exam Cancelled Due to Paper Leak
In a significant administrative move, the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has cancelled the Class 12 English examination for the March 2025 session across the state. This decision follows reports of a paper leak that occurred at Government Senior Secondary School, Chowari, in District Chamba.
Incident Overview
On March 7, the examination schedule allocated the Class 10 English paper, while the Class 12 English paper was set for March 8. However, faculty members mistakenly opened the Class 12 question paper ahead of the designated time. The Board received an anonymous tip on the same day, indicating that the Class 12 English question paper had been prematurely unsealed.
Investigation and Findings
Upon receiving the complaint, the Board conducted a swift investigation, corroborating the allegation with video evidence obtained from the newly implemented “Exam Mitra App.” This app was introduced to enhance examination monitoring and transparency.
The official notification stated, “As an anonymous complaint has been received… regarding the opening of Class-10+2 question paper… the Board has taken a serious view and corroborated this fact from video clips.”
Official Response
Vishal Sharma, Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, exercised his authority under Section 2.1.2 of the Examination Regulations to direct the immediate cancellation of the Class 12 English examination statewide. The Board has assured that new dates for the examination will be communicated soon.
