Govt Deploys 80 Backup Trains for Festival Rush at 60 Key Stations

Government’s Plan for Festival Rush: 80 Backup Trains to Ensure Smooth Travel

NEW DELHI: In a proactive move to manage the festive rush, the Indian government has announced that around 80 passenger trains will be kept on standby at 60 identified stations. This initiative aims to accommodate the sudden surge in travelers during major festivals such as Holi, Chhath, and Diwali. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presented this plan during a recent discussion in the Rajya Sabha regarding the Railways (Amendment) Bill.

Effective Crowd Management Strategies

Minister Vaishnaw emphasized that a detailed roadmap for crowd management has been devised. “We have taken the tough decision to sell tickets according to the number of available seats on trains to prevent overcrowding,” he stated. With the upcoming festive season, the provision of 80 special trains stationed near these high-footfall areas should significantly alleviate travel woes, ensuring that passengers can reach their destinations comfortably.

Streamlining Railway Operations

The Rajya Sabha has passed the amendment bill aimed at modernizing and streamlining railway operations across India, following its approval in the Lok Sabha last December. This legislative move is part of a broader effort to enhance the efficiency of the railway system, benefiting millions of travelers during peak times.
