Gary Stead Updates on Rachin Ravindra and Lockie Ferguson’s Injuries Ahead of ODI Final

Injury Updates: Rachin Ravindra and Lockie Ferguson Ahead of ODI Tri-Series Final

New Zealand’s head coach Gary Stead has provided crucial updates regarding the injuries of key players Rachin Ravindra and Lockie Ferguson as the team gears up for the ODI tri-series final against Pakistan. This match, set to take place in Karachi, is pivotal for the Blackcaps as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy starting on February 19.

Rachin Ravindra’s Recovery

Rachin Ravindra sustained a forehead injury during the first ODI of the series after a nasty blow while attempting to catch a ball. Stead reported that Ravindra is making good progress: “He’s had a headache for a few days, but that’s subsiding, which is really good news. He hit a few balls tonight for the first time, which is good. But it’s still a few more steps for him to go through before he would be considered fit for play.”

Lockie Ferguson’s Hamstring Progress

Lockie Ferguson, recovering from a hamstring injury he incurred during the ILT20 in the UAE, has also shown promising signs. Stead mentioned, “Lockie has been out there. He has had a couple of bowls since he has been here, so the intensity was up a little bit more tonight. Pleased with how he’s tracking and certainly will look to have him playing in one of the next two games.”

Looking Ahead

Both players are vital for New Zealand as they look to secure victory against Pakistan and build momentum heading into the Champions Trophy. Fans eagerly await their return to the field, hoping for a strong performance from the Blackcaps.
