AHMEDABAD: Jhulasan, a small village in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, gained fame two decades ago as the ancestral home of NASA astronaut Sunita Williams. However, the 5,000 residents of this village now find themselves in distress as around two dozen men, who are believed to be illegal immigrants in the US, have gone incommunicado.
Following the arrival of a US military aircraft carrying 104 Indian deportees in Punjab’s Amritsar, uncertainty looms over whether the missing men have illegally entered American territory or are merely in transit. A village elder expressed concern, stating, “The horror stories some of these deportees have returned with are adding to our anxiety over the whereabouts of the two dozen men who remain untraceable.”
