Farooq Abdullah Blames PDP for Article 370 Abrogation

JAMMU: In a recent statement, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has pointed fingers at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the abrogation of Article 370. Abdullah emphasized that the alliance between PDP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was a significant factor leading to this constitutional change.

Historical Context

Abdullah remarked, “Against our advice, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed partnered with BJP to form a government in the state.” This partnership, he claims, has resulted in dire consequences for the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, further complicating the region’s autonomy.

Countering Allegations

Responding to PDP’s accusations that the National Conference has abandoned its commitment to restore Article 370, Abdullah defended his party’s position. He stated that NC has consistently fought for the rights of the people and will continue to do so, despite the challenges posed by the current political environment.

Addressing Internal Dangers

In his address, Abdullah also criticized the BJP for propagating a narrative that “Hindus are in danger” within India. He urged citizens to challenge this falsehood, asserting, “It is everyone’s duty to break this falsehood.” His call for unity is a reminder of the complex social fabric of India, where communal harmony is essential for peace and progress.
