David Miller Critiques Travel Disruptions Before South Africa’s Champions Trophy Loss to New Zealand

David Miller Critiques Travel Disruptions Ahead of Champions Trophy Semi-Final

South Africa’s star batsman, David Miller, has voiced his frustrations regarding the logistical challenges faced by his team, which required them to make a swift round-trip to Dubai before their recent Champions Trophy semi-final against New Zealand. This travel complication arose from India’s decision not to play in Pakistan, forcing both South Africa and Australia to journey to Dubai.
Miller pointed out that their brief stay in Dubai lasted less than 24 hours and was ultimately unproductive, as they did not play any matches during this time. “It’s only an hour and 40-minute flight, but the fact that we had to do that was not ideal,” he remarked after South Africa’s defeat to New Zealand by 50 runs.
The scheduling issues were evident as Australia remained in Dubai following their match, only to lose to India in the other semi-final. South Africa, on the other hand, had just secured a victory against England in Karachi before embarking on their journey. Miller explained, “It’s early morning, it’s after a game and we had to fly. We got to Dubai at 4:00 PM and had to return at 7:30 AM. It doesn’t make it nice.”
Despite scoring a remarkable century off just 67 balls, Miller’s efforts were overshadowed by New Zealand’s impressive performance, where they set a Champions Trophy record with 362 runs. As the final approaches, Miller has expressed his support for New Zealand, stating, “I think I’ll be supporting New Zealand.”
