Controversy Erupts Over Y-Security for Actor Vijay Amid ‘Muslim Threat’ Claims

Controversy Erupts Over Security for Actor Vijay

CHENNAI: Recent events in Tamil Nadu have stirred up controversy following the Centre’s decision to provide Y-category security to actor Vijay, who is also the founder of the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TVK). VCK spokesman Vanniarasu alleged that the security was requested due to fears of threats from the Muslim community towards the actor.

Claims and Counterclaims

The TVK, along with its ally, the Tamil Nadu Muslim League, vehemently denied Vanniarasu’s claims. They described his statement as a tactic by the DMK and its allies to alienate Muslims from the TVK. Vanniarasu stated, “Vijay depicted Muslims negatively in his films ‘Kathi’ and ‘Beast’, leading to concerns for his safety.” However, he could not provide a copy of the alleged letter from TVK requesting security, claiming the information came from a reliable police source.

Response from TVK

TVK’s propaganda wing joint secretary, I Thahira, condemned Vanniarasu’s remarks, asserting that Muslims hold significant positions within the TVK and that Vijay has consistently supported the Muslim community, including his opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Thahira added, “No letter was submitted by Vijay or TVK seeking security.”

DMK’s Alleged Campaign

V M S Mustafa, founding president of the Tamil Nadu Muslim League, dismissed Vanniarasu’s assertions, labeling them as a premeditated campaign by the DMK to portray Vijay as an enemy of Muslims and divert their support towards the DMK alliance.

As this narrative unfolds, the implications for Tamil Nadu’s political landscape remain significant. Stay informed with the latest updates and enjoy exclusive deals on Looffers.com, your go-to destination for amazing offers and discounts!
