BJP’s Scathing Attack on AAP Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach on February 5, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its critique of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri recently addressed a press conference, highlighting significant unfulfilled promises by AAP that he claims have contributed to the deterioration of the city.
Unfulfilled Promises and Allegations
Puri noted ten key promises that remain unaddressed by the AAP, including the ambitious goals of cleaning the Yamuna River and achieving a pollution-free Delhi. “Arvind Kejriwal spreads lies and makes no effort to fulfil promises made to voters,” he alleged, casting doubt on the Chief Minister’s credibility.
The BJP leader took a jab at Kejriwal’s earlier image of simplicity, criticizing him for constructing a lavish “sheesh mahal” for himself. “Kejriwal, who once claimed he would reject bungalows and drive a Wagon R, has shown a stark contrast in his actions,” Puri stated.
Critique of Punjab’s AAP Government
Puri didn’t stop at Delhi; he also scrutinized AAP’s governance in Punjab, claiming that the party has failed to tackle the drug menace. He quipped, “Instead of ending drugs, the drug lords in Punjab gained more strength under AAP’s watch,” mocking the party’s advertisements promoting a ‘nasha mukt’ Punjab initiative.
BJP’s Ambitions in Delhi
With the upcoming elections, the BJP aims to bolster its presence in Delhi. In the previous elections, the BJP secured only three seats in 2015 and eight in 2020, while AAP dominated with 67 and 62 seats, respectively. The votes will be counted on February 8.
