BCCI Introduces New Practice Regulations for IPL Teams
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rolled out new regulations for practice sessions ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 season. These guidelines aim to maintain pitch quality and provide balanced training opportunities for all participating teams.
Key Highlights of the New Regulations
- Practice Sessions: Each team is permitted a maximum of seven practice sessions, lasting up to three hours under floodlights. Out of these, two sessions can be designated for practice matches or open nets, as per the team’s discretion.
- Practice Match Guidelines: Teams must conduct practice matches on designated side wickets of the main square. For those under lights, the match duration should not exceed three and a half hours, and prior approval from the BCCI is mandatory.
- Restrictions Prior to Home Matches: No practice sessions on the main square are allowed in the four days leading to a team’s first home match. However, one side wicket will be available for range hitting during this period.
- Simultaneous Practice: If both home and away teams wish to practice at the same time, the BCCI will allocate two two-hour slots to ensure exclusive use of the ground under similar conditions.
- Range Hitting Facilities: Throughout scheduled practice sessions, teams will have access to one wicket at the extreme edge on both sides of the main square for range hitting.
- Match Day Restrictions: No practice sessions will be permitted on match days, ensuring optimal pitch conditions for games.
