De Villiers emphasized that with Rohit’s impressive record, both as a batter and captain, retirement is not on the horizon. “With that kind of record, he has no reason to retire or take criticism. His performance in the final laid a strong foundation for India’s success,” de Villiers remarked.

Highlighting Rohit’s evolution as a player, de Villiers noted significant improvements in his game, particularly his strike rate during powerplays. “Since 2022, his strike rate has risen to 115 in the first powerplay. This transformation distinguishes good players from great ones,” he explained. With a win percentage of nearly 74%, Rohit is on track to be one of the greatest ODI captains of all time.
