Tragic Loss: Indian Nationals in Russian Armed Forces
In a heartbreaking update from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), it has been confirmed that twelve Indian nationals serving in the Russian Armed Forces have tragically lost their lives, while 16 others remain missing. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed his condolences, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure the safe return of those affected.
Details of the Incident
Among the deceased is Binil Babu, whose death has been described as extremely unfortunate. The MEA has conveyed its condolences to his family and is working closely with Russian authorities to expedite the return of his remains to India. Another Indian national is currently receiving treatment in Moscow and is expected to return home soon after recovery.
Status of Indian Nationals in the Russian Army
Out of 126 known Indian nationals serving in the Russian military, 96 have already returned home. Currently, 12 have been confirmed dead, and 16 are still classified as missing by Russian authorities. The MEA is actively seeking the early release and repatriation of those remaining.
