As the IPL 2025 season approaches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer acknowledges the weight of his Rs 23.75 crore price tag from last year’s auction. At 30, Iyer stands as the third-highest-paid player in IPL history, and with Ajinkya Rahane at the helm, he is eager to contribute effectively to the team.
In a recent press conference, Iyer shared his excitement about collaborating with mentor Dwayne Bravo, who brings unparalleled T20 experience to the squad. “He’s been the most successful T20 player in history, so he brings a lot of experience to the table,” Iyer stated, emphasizing the value of Bravo’s insights.
Addressing the expectations tied to his hefty transfer fee, Iyer remarked, “It exists. You can’t ignore it altogether, but when the IPL starts, it really doesn’t matter. You’re a part of a playing XI, a part of a team that is going out there to win.”
Bravo also expressed his commitment to maintaining effective strategies from the previous season while working closely with team owner Shah Rukh Khan. “It would be disrespectful of me to try to change some of the good things from last season. The energy and vibe he brings, I’m going to try to replicate that,” Bravo added.
