Indian table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal has announced his retirement from professional sports, with the WTT Contender Chennai, scheduled from March 25 to 30, marking his final tournament. The 42-year-old athlete shared, “I played my first international tournament in Chennai, and I will be playing my last international also in Chennai.”
A Career of Excellence
Sharath Kamal has had an illustrious career spanning over two decades, during which he has amassed an impressive collection of accolades. He is a six-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist and has also won two bronze medals at the Asian Games. His final Olympic appearance was at the Paris Games last year, marking his fifth time competing on the world’s biggest stage.
