Shreyas Iyer’s Heartwarming Gesture Brightens Net Bowler’s Day
During a Champions Trophy training session, a beautiful moment unfolded when Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer surprised net bowler Jaskiran Singh with a thoughtful gift: a pair of cricket spikes. This act not only made Jaskiran’s day but also showcased the spirit of camaraderie that exists within the cricketing community.
Jaskiran, a chartered accountant by profession, was fielding at long-off when Iyer approached him, asking, “What’s your shoe size?” After receiving Jaskiran’s response of size 10, Iyer handed him the new spikes, leaving the young cricketer overjoyed. “It really means a lot,” Jaskiran later shared with PTI Videos, expressing how special the moment was for him.
Despite not getting the opportunity to bowl to the Indian team during the nets—thanks to the presence of multiple off-spinners—Jaskiran had previously bowled to players from Pakistan and Bangladesh. “I was waiting for an opportunity to bowl to them. This surprise from Shreyas bhai truly lifted my spirits,” he added.
Jaskiran also revealed his admiration for Rishabh Pant, stating, “Every batter in Team India is special, but I particularly look up to Rishabh Pant because he is a left-hander. I would really love to bowl to him.”
As India heads into the semifinals of the Champions Trophy, this heartwarming gesture serves as a reminder of how small acts of kindness can significantly impact someone’s day.
