Kolkata Knight Riders Gear Up for IPL 2025 with Pre-Season Training Camp

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are all set for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as they kick off their pre-season training camp in Mumbai. Running from February 21 to 28, this week-long camp is focused on domestic players, providing them with an opportunity to sharpen their skills ahead of the main camp that begins on March 12 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Defending Champions Prepare for a New Challenge

As the defending champions, KKR will commence their IPL 2025 campaign against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22. With former captain Shreyas Iyer moving on to lead Punjab Kings, the franchise is considering Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer as potential captains for the upcoming season. Venkatesh, who was re-acquired for a whopping Rs 23.75 crore, is one of the key players to watch this season.

Training Camp Details

The Mumbai training camp includes nine domestic players, such as Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and promising talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi, alongside new additions like Mayank Markande and Luvnith Sisodia. Head coach Chandrakant Pandit emphasized the importance of this camp in setting the rhythm for the team, stating, “This is a normal routine for us every season.”

Coaching Staff and Strategy

The coaching staff, which includes spin bowling coach Carl Crowe and bowling coach Bharat Arun, has laid out plans for extensive match simulations and net sessions. Crowe mentioned, “It’s important to keep the squad fresh. Everyone is really excited for the whole tournament.”
