Madhya Pradesh Leader Shafiq Ansari Acquitted of Rape Charges After House Demolition

Justice Served: Shafiq Ansari Acquitted of Rape Charges

In a recent verdict from Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district, former ward councillor Shafiq Ansari was acquitted of rape charges. The court found that the allegations made against him were motivated by his earlier complaint that led to the demolition of the complainant’s home.

The Incident and Allegations

Shafiq Ansari, aged 58, had his house demolished less than ten days after the complaint was filed in March 2021. With a family of seven, Ansari shared, “I had built the house on 4,000 sqft of land with my hard-earned savings. Now, there’s only rubble. We are staying at my brother’s house.” He was accused of calling the woman on the pretext of helping with her son’s wedding and then allegedly assaulting her.

The Court’s Findings

The court, presided over by First Additional Sessions Judge Chitrendra Singh Solanki, noted “significant inconsistencies” in the testimonies provided by the woman and her husband. The delay in reporting the alleged crime and lack of physical evidence were crucial in the court’s decision. “No human sperm was found on samples of the complainant,” the order stated, leading to the conclusion that rape could not be confirmed.

Next Steps for Ansari

Now that he has been acquitted, Ansari plans to seek justice for the demolition of his house. His case highlights the need for fair treatment and due process in legal matters.
