120 Homes Handed Over to Women-Led Families in Palakkad, Empowering Communities

Empowering Women Through Housing: A Milestone in Palakkad

In a remarkable initiative, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust has handed over 120 homes to women-led families in Palakkad, Kerala, under the Griha Sobha 2025 initiative. This event marks a significant step towards empowering women and promoting their dignity in society. The ceremony was graced by Kerala Revenue and Housing Minister Adv K Rajan, along with other dignitaries including MPs and MLAs.

A Home is More Than Just Shelter

Minister K Rajan expressed his pride in witnessing the impact of such projects firsthand. “The 1000 Homes Initiative by Sobha Group is a remarkable effort to uplift women, going beyond providing shelter, to restoring dignity and creating opportunities. One of the most commendable aspects of this initiative is its strong focus on women empowerment,” he stated.

Support for Landless Families

In addition to handing over completed homes, the initiative also provided land to 13 landless families, enabling them to construct their own homes. So far, the Trust has successfully handed over a total of 230 homes, with another 120 set to begin construction in March 2025.

A Legacy of Social Welfare

Established in 1994, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust focuses on housing, education, healthcare, and social welfare in three panchayats of Palakkad district. Their commitment to uplifting the community is commendable and sets a precedent for future initiatives.
