Rishabh Pant’s Fitness Update: Ready for Champions Trophy Showdown
India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, has given fans a reason to cheer as he returned to practice without any strapping on his injured left knee. During the second day of training at the ICC Academy, Pant stepped off the team bus with a confident stride, much to the delight of the gathered crowd.
Pant had taken a blow to his knee during practice when he was struck by a shot from Hardik Pandya. However, he showed no signs of distress the following day, engaging with fans who eagerly chanted his name. “Pant! Pant! Autograph, please!” they shouted, and Pant graciously obliged, signing autographs and posing for selfies.
Training Regimen
Though Pant initially opted out of fielding drills, he participated in shadow batting, demonstrating his commitment to recovery. Before starting his training session, he did put on a knee strap, indicating a cautious yet hopeful approach as he prepares for the upcoming challenges.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen in high spirits, pleased to have Pant back on the field. With the Champions Trophy set to kick off, Pant’s presence is crucial for India’s campaign.
Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule
India, two-time Champions Trophy winners, will begin their 2025 campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. This will be followed by a highly anticipated clash against archrivals Pakistan on February 23, and their final Group A fixture against New Zealand on March 2.
Since its inception in 1998, India has lifted the Champions Trophy twice, first in 2002 and again in 2013. As the tournament approaches, fans are hopeful that Pant will play a key role in securing another title for India.
