Atishi Celebrates Victory Amidst Allegations of Internal Party Strife
NEW DELHI: In a recent statement, former Union minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur alleged that outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi celebrated her victory from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency after claims emerged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal’s efforts to engineer her defeat had failed.
Thakur’s remarks were in response to a leaked video that purportedly shows Atishi dancing in celebration. He emphasized that the defeats of prominent AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, reveal significant internal conflicts within the party.
Kejriwal Faces the Consequences of His Actions
Thakur accused Kejriwal of sidelining his party members for personal gain, suggesting that his political journey has come full circle. “Kejriwal entered politics using Anna Hazare’s movement, only to abandon him and remove founding members of his own party. Now, he faces betrayal himself,” he remarked.
He highlighted that despite Atishi’s name being absent from campaign materials, she still managed to secure a victory, further indicating the discontent within AAP.
Corruption Allegations and Party’s Decline
Labeling AAP a “disaster” for Delhi, Thakur pointed out the corruption issues plaguing the party, claiming multiple party members are currently imprisoned. “Fifteen MLAs, eight ministers, and one MP are in jail, leaving AAP without an honest figure to rally votes,” he stated.
Thakur attributed the BJP’s success in Delhi to PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that voters have rejected Kejriwal’s promises.
Opposition’s Fragility
Additionally, Thakur dismissed the opposition INDIA bloc, describing it as an alliance built on “lies and malafide intentions.” He noted their inability to remain united for even seven months, suggesting an impending collapse.
