India’s Stance on the Palestine Issue
NEW DELHI: In light of US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate over two million Palestinians to neighboring Arab countries, India has reiterated its longstanding position on the Palestine issue. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated, “On the Gaza Strip, you are aware of what our stand is on the issue of Palestine. It has not changed.”
Support for a Two-State Solution
India’s stance is clear: it advocates for a negotiated two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and viable State of Palestine within secure and recognized borders. This solution envisions peaceful coexistence alongside Israel.
Recent Developments
The ongoing conflict in West Asia is expected to be a focal point during Trump’s upcoming bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While many Arab representatives have condemned the plan as illegal, Israel is reportedly preparing to implement it.
Humanitarian Assistance
India has condemned the recent terror attacks on Israel by Hamas and has expressed its sorrow over civilian casualties in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The country continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine, both bilaterally and through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees in Near East (UNRWA).
