Sachin Tendulkar Reflects on 2011 World Cup Glory as His Greatest Achievement

Sachin Tendulkar Reminisces About the 2011 World Cup Victory

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar recently reflected on India’s glorious 2011 World Cup victory, describing it as the pinnacle of his career. During a visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Tendulkar expressed his desire to relive that unforgettable moment.

“The 2011 World Cup is a memory I would like to relive. The journey and dream that started in 1983. I made many attempts, failed but never lost hope. So, that’s the best moment of my life,” he shared.

A Historic Final

The final match at Wankhede Stadium saw India overcoming Sri Lanka by six wickets. Sri Lanka posted a formidable total of 274 runs, thanks to Mahela Jayawardene’s unbeaten 103. However, India’s stellar batting line-up, led by Gautam Gambhir’s 97 and MS Dhoni’s 91*, clinched the victory, ending a 28-year World Cup drought.

Acknowledging His Coach

Tendulkar also paid tribute to his childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar, who played a pivotal role in shaping his career. “Achrekar Sir ensured that we never took shortcuts, which made me mentally strong,” he stated, reflecting on the coach’s impactful training methods.

Recent Honors

Tendulkar was recently awarded the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the BCCI Awards in Mumbai. As the holder of numerous records, including the highest runs in Tests and ODIs, Tendulkar is celebrated as the ‘God of Cricket’ for his remarkable contributions to the sport.
