Two AAP MLAs Booked Amid Election Campaigning
NEW DELHI: Recent incidents involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Dinesh Mohaniya and Amanatullah Khan have raised eyebrows during the ongoing election campaigning in Delhi. Mohaniya has been booked for allegedly harassing a woman while canvassing in Sangam Vihar.
Harassment Allegations Against Dinesh Mohaniya
The complaint against Mohaniya surfaced after a video went viral on social media, showing him making inappropriate gestures and blowing flying kisses at a woman. Following the incident, the woman filed a complaint at the Sangam Vihar police station. Authorities registered a case under sections 323/341/509 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code).
Amanatullah Khan’s Model Code Violation
In a separate incident, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was booked for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. The incumbent MLA from the Okhla constituency was caught campaigning with over 100 supporters in Zakir Nagar, breaching regulations that prohibit such gatherings within 48 hours of polling. An FIR was lodged under Section 223 of the BNS and Section 126 of The Representation of the People Act, 1951.
