Burglar Tied to 200+ Thefts Gifts Rs 3 Crore House to Girlfriend, Arrested in Bengaluru

From Tea Shop to Crime Scene: The Tale of Panchakshari Sangayya Swamy

Panchakshari Sangayya Swamy, a tea shop owner, brewed a criminal record as strong as his tea, being linked to an astonishing 150-200 house break-ins across four states. In a shocking twist, he reportedly gifted his girlfriend a lavish bungalow worth Rs 3 crore. However, his luck ran out in Bengaluru last week, where he was arrested for a house break-in, fleeing with 400 grams of gold and silver.

The Arrest and Aftermath

Swamy’s accomplice from Uttar Pradesh remains absconding, prompting police to launch a manhunt. Authorities managed to recover 180 grams of gold and 150 grams of silver from Swamy, who claims the rest is with his partner. A divorcee living with his government employee mother in Solapur, Swamy had previously operated in Rajasthan, Telangana, Gujarat, and Maharashtra before his arrest in Bengaluru.

A Checkered Past

Swamy’s criminal history includes multiple arrests by Mumbai police, who confirmed his extravagant gifts to struggling Bollywood starlets. He was jailed in Gujarat in 2016 but returned to crime after his release. After a brief hiatus since 2010, Swamy returned to Bengaluru on his partner’s suggestion, marking his first visit in several years.
